Professional fireworks (temporary and permanent provision)

As a certified pyrotechnician you can apply for pursuing your profession in Denmark on the basis of foreign professional qualifications. You can apply by email via the 'Send'-button.

When pursuing the profession of certified pyrotechnician in Denmark, the following criteria must be met before a certified pyrotechnician approval can be issued on the basis of foreign professional qualifications:

For Temporary and occasional pursuit of professional activity as a certified pyrotechnician in Denmark:

You have to submit the following documentation with your email:

• Information on any insurance agreements or other forms of collective protection associated with the practitioner’s professional liability.

• Documentation of nationality (enclose copy of passport).

• Documentation of professional qualifications (enclose copy of training certificate).

• Information about level of professional qualifications.

• Documentation certifying that you have not been found guilty of a criminal offence which constitutes a danger of you misusing your profession.

For Establishing a business as a certified pyrotechnician in Denmark:

You have to submit the following documentation with your email:

• Documentation of nationality (enclose copy of passport).

• Copies of attestations of professional competence or of the evidence of formal qualifications giving access to pursue the profession of certified pyrotechnician or equivalent professions.

• Documentation of your professional experience as a certified pyrotechnician.

• Documentation proving that you are not prohibited from pursuing the profession in your country of origin at the time of application.

• Documentation certifying that you have not been found guilty of a criminal offence which constitutes a danger of you misusing your profession.

• Documentation proving that you are of legal age.

Use of Professional fireworks

In addition to being approved as a certified pyrotechnician, the local fire department where you wish to arrange the fireworks event must approve the event before you can start working. You must apply no later than 14 days before the event.

To be approved you must use the application form here and submit it by e-mail to the local fire department where you wish to arrange the event.

Provision of fireworks

If you import the fireworks yourself into Denmark or manufacture your own fireworks in Denmark, you must have approval to do so from the Danish Safety Technology Authority. You apply by email via the 'Send'-button.

Purchase of fireworks

If you purchase or otherwise acquire the fireworks in Denmark, you must apply for permission from the local fire department where your company is registered. If you do not have a registered company in Denmark, the permission is granted by the local fire department where the company from which you purchase or acquire the fireworks is registered.

Storage of your fireworks

In order for you to receive permission to store your fireworks, you must apply for authorisation from the local fire department where you wish to store your fireworks.
