Lawyers who have been appointed as lawyers in another EU Member State, an EEA country or in Switzerland can establish themselves in Denmark in order to permanently pursue the profession of lawyer in Denmark under their home-country professional title

Lawyers who wish to establish themselves in Denmark in order to pursue the profession of lawyer under their home-country professional title must register with the Danish Bar and Law Society. The following documentation must be submitted:

  • A copy of the applicant’s passport.

  • Information about whether or not the applicant is a member of a joint practice in his/her home country. If so, information about this joint practice must be submitted, including its legal form in the applicant’s home country and the names of the persons in this joint practice who practise in Denmark, if any.

  • Documentation of the applicant’s registration as a lawyer from the relevant authority of his/her home country (issued within the last three months).

  • Documentation of fulfilment of the Danish requirements of professional indemnity insurance and guarantee.

  • Contact information in Denmark.
