File a complaint about offensive behaviour, including bullying and sexual harassment

Before filing a complaint with the Danish Working Environment Authority, it is important to consider whether there are other people in the company who can help you.

We recommend that you talk about your experiences with your manager, your health and safety representative, trade union representative or the person responsible for health and safety at the company.

When does the Danish Working Environment Authority get involved?

The Danish Working Environment Authority may intervene if employees or managers subject other employees or managers to severe or repeated offensive behaviour which the subjected person perceives as degrading and which may cause trauma or illness.

You have the right to remain anonymous when you lodge a complaint with the Danish Working Environment Authority and you will always be treated anonymously in connection with any inspection visits and further processing.

The Danish Working Environment Authority will not inform the employer or others that we have received a complaint. Anonymity also applies if the employer approaches the Danish Working Environment Authority and asks whether there have been complaints from employees.

It is an advantage for case processing if you include your name and telephone number in the complaint, so we can contact you if we need more information.

Your information will be treated confidentially.

A complaint about offensive behaviour, including bullying and sexual harassment does not automatically result in an inspection visit at the company. This will depend on a specific assessment of the individual complaint.

You will not be informed about whether your complaint will result in an inspection visit.

If the Danish Working Environment Authority visits the company, we will speak with management and employee representatives.

If, on this basis, we assess that a violation of occupational safety and health regulations has occurred, we can order the company to find a solution.

The Danish Working Environment Authority can only make decisions based on information that emerges during the visit, and not based on the information in the complaint.
